Like I commented when Polar Pilot brought the subject up earlier this year: Been there, done that, the RUBS can keep it. I went in 93 on a 1930's Chief, and had a FACTORY 1928 Scout hillclimber in the support truck. I definitely caught flak from the Evo owners who thought they were rough tough bikers because they plunked down $30000 for a "Heritage" Softail with all the trimmings and some new leathers. My , and I quote, "Antiquated, anti-American, non- Harley piece of shit isn't welcome at OUR rally". Do these f***heads realize that Indian had electric start big twins before HD got out of the pedal start one lunger era? The hillclimber camp was worse, but they were honest about why: The Scout could hands down beat their KR750/Japanese/European dirt bikes without even trying. I couldn't even make an exhibition run. And you could count the asian bikes on one finger where I was during the rally. They weren't welcome, and smart enough to respect that. Will I go back? Not unless I'm on a "worthy" bike. Like I said, let the RUBS have it. It's all hype anyway, I found the rally itself boring as hell.
